Cissetta was one of the two planets originally colonized by the survivors of the Crux Australis’ first (and last) voyage. The world has little in the way of hydrosphere due to its thin atmosphere and geological characteristics. What water is there exists only thanks to periodic iceteroid towing from the nearby planetary rings. Most of Cissetta is desert, though the land surrounding the few small seas is typically rocky beach, savanna and scrub.
Although the world is officially run by a citizen’s democracy, in practice the society can be best described as “tribal”. Most of the world’s population lives in moving communities that survive on subsistence farming and trade. The planets main industry, strangely, is the mining and drilling of fossil fuels, whose presence suggests a much richer biosphere in the planet’s past.
The Crucian culture that dominates Cissetta is here manifest in the dogged endurance of the planet’s inhabitants, and their notable ability to maintain ancient and outdated machinery.
